Pay & Benefits
Starting pay is $2,903.00 per month. Candidates with at least 2 years of experience as a public safety dispatcher may be offered a higher starting salary. New employees work 40 hours per week while training. After initial training is complete (from 7 to 10 months) employees change to a 42 hour workweek with automatic overtime and pay increase to $3,071.00, with additional raises per the Union contract with General Teamsters Local 760. KITTCOM offers medical, dental & vision benefits for employees & their dependents.
In order to qualify you
Must have integrity beyond reproach, you cannot have any disqualifying criminal history or drug use.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have the ability to type at least 30 words per minute, however, a higher typing speed would be beneficial. The average typing speed of KITTCOM staff is 85.7 words per minute.
MUST be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and widely varying hours during and after training.

Periodically, we will host testing sessions. You will be notified by Director Darlene Mainwaring when the testing will occur.
Test 1: The Press Test, based on the “Stroop effect” is the first test. If you pass the Press Test, you will go onto the second test.
Test 2: The CritiCall Test will be scheduled after the Press Test.
If you pass the CritiCall Test, you will be offered an oral interview.
Preliminary background interviews will be scheduled for those who pass the oral interview.
The testing process is extensive and takes a considerable amount of time to complete, between 6-9 weeks. As you progress through the hiring process, you will be provided the timeline and schedule for the following tasks to be completed in the order listed below.
